Do Pets Go to Heaven?

I am pretty sad today. We woke up yesterday and our beautiful collie, Nikki, couldn't walk. Dave rushed her to the vet and they quickly hooked her up to machines and told us her blood pressure was very low and she had a temperature of 105.5 degrees. She was in critical condition and told him to go home and come back a little later while they did tests and x-rays. When we got back there, she lifted her head a little when she heard my voice, but they told us basically she was very very sick and we had to send her to Jesus. She was THE sweetest animal I've ever owned...except for maybe Belle, my cat, but even she gets a little snooty sometimes and Nikki NEVER did. Yesterday was a hard, hard day. Today is better, but my other dog, Mopsey, is VERY depressed. All she wants to do is mope around and curl up with us, especially with me. She is so used to being with Nikki all the time and she doesn't know what to do. I think Belle and Pokey Doodle are a little in shock, too. They keep looking around trying to find something, which I think is Nikki. Dave and I were supposed to go out with another couple for dinner last night but we just couldn't manage it. I really can't believe she is gone...seriously. I keep thinking she's gonna walk in here any minute for a nudge. I do pray that all dogs go to heaven. I'm sure they do...cause I know cats do. I just couldn't imagine a heaven without my animals. Could you? My sister, Wendi, whose baby, Whitney died of SIDS when she was only 2 months old, reminded me that her dog passed away last Christmas and they talked of how Whitney must have wanted a dog for Christmas, so Jesus brought her theirs. She told me that Whitney must have wanted another one this year. How sweet a thought is that? Happy New Year, my friends. love you, Shari

Oh Shari - my heart goes out to you and Dave! I'm soooo sorry. We've lost a couple of our beloved pets over the last couple of years and it never gets easier. I also believe that our pets have a very special place in heaven. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and Mopsey, Pokey Doodle and Belle.
I hope your new year becomes a happier one! Love, Dawn

Hi Sweet Shari~
I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Nikki. It's amazing how attached we can get to our animals isn't it?
Praying for you sweet friend!

Here is my fashion question for you:
Are hose totally out or are they sometimes still in???

Shari, I appreciate your humor in the midst of pain! What a beautiful tribute to your pet and testimony of your pet lover's heart! Actually, I want to mention something that has absolutely nothing to do with your blog. It has taken me a while (months actually) to reunite myself with the Weight Watchers program. I am making one slight switch and attempting the online version! I love it so far. The online tracker is right for me! Anyway, today I made the WW version of an ice cream sandwich. I put 2 tbsp. of cool whip between two squares of chocolate graham crackers and froze them for an hour or so. Quite the yummy 2 pts. if I must say so myself. I used the regular cool whip so it might be less with lite cool whip. At any rate, it hits the spot at the end of a sensible meal. Blessings! And I will be in touch! Love, Pam

Shari, I am so sorry for your loss of Nikki. We had to put our almost 17 year old Australian cattle dog to sleep last January, so it has been almost a year and we still miss Sassy terribly. I firmly believe our beloved pets are waiting for us in heaven. I just don't know how they can't be. You have my prayers for your loss, I know how really tough it is. If you want to see Sassy, we have her in www.rainbowbridge.com...just look up breeds of Australian Cattle Dog, Sassy, Tim and Kelly Lake and you will find our tribute to her. It helped me a lot to do that after she left. Many prayer of comfort for you and your family.

Awww, Shari. I'm so sorry to hear about your collie. We had a collie when I was a little girl and we never had another dog quite like her. I know you'll miss your Nikki, too.

Have a blessed New Year,
Jeannie

This is my 1st visit to your site from Lysa's & I'm so sorry to read about your sweet dog. I loved what your sister told you. So sweet & must bring great comfort to her heart too.
Thanks for sharing. Give Mopsey a good scratch behind the ears for me as he misses his faithful friend.

Oh Sahri,
I'm crying over the loss of your precious Nikki.
These precious furry four-legged creatures enter our lives and leave us all too soon.
I pray your heart will mend quickly and the sweet memories of Nikki will bring a smile to your face.
Loving you as you mourn,
Zoe

Hey Shari;

I believe pets go to heaven. I too had to put my beloved cat to sleep on December 1st of 2007. We had been together since she was five weeks old. She lived to be 13 and they were the best 13 years of my life! PC Kitty (short for Partly Cloudy because she was grey!) reflected God and His love for His children in everything she did. She taught me how to come to Him as I am and rest in confidence. She taught me how to be silly and spontaneous and to laugh when something was funny. She was true unconditional love and I am so grateful that God gave me such a gift! He always knows what we need right when we need it. I believe PC Kitty and Nikki served a great purpose as all pets do.
I know that both of our beloved pets are sitting in God's lap just giving Him lots of love.
Hugs of comfort to you for your loss.
Monica
