Accessories

Note: For those who want to read today's devo that I wrote for Proverbs 31, click here.

Hi all! I'm reporting on fashion accessories for Spring today! This is the time for color! Big, bold, beautiful color! No matter your budget, you can always find accessories that can spruce up an outfit even if that outfit is from last year. Trendy accessories will make your clothes look new, even if they're not.

You must find yourself a pair of big sunglasses! Buy these in a neutral color that flatters your natural coloring. If you are a blonde, light brunette or redhead, then tortoise is a great pick for you. If you are a dark brunette or have black, gray or silver hair, then pewter or black is a good choice.

Go get yourself a BIG ring, like this one! It is a fun accessory that brings life to your hands! Make sure it's in a brilliant stone and is big, very big!

I think every wardrobe needs a pair of medium size hoops. Whether you prefer gold or silver, have a pair you can put on because they go with most any other jewelry you might be wearing. Stone necklaces are big for spring, so if you don't have coordinating earrings, gold or silver hoops always look great with it. Keep your eye out for a colorful watch. Put your expensive watches away for spring and summer and go with hues that brighten up any white, beige or black you may put on.

Finally, get some leopard! Even if it's in a bracelet, it will add sparkle and fun to any wardrobe! And if you're just not a leopard-wearing kind of girl, then go find some wide, bold bracelets to give your wardrobe a lift. I promise, wearing fun accessories like this just make you feel better!

Oh and by the way, remember the trouble with the e-book I was having, well.........my new "Style Guide" is almost ready! In fact, I am promised it will be ready to take to my events in St. Petersburg and Apex, NC next week! I am so very excited! If you have already signed up to receive a notice for when it is ready, then you will be informed....if not, go here and sign up. This Style Guide will be available in a hardcopy (workbook format) and e-book format.

And if you found your way here because of today's Proverbs 31 devotional, welcome! I hope you'll leave a comment and let me know you've visited. Let's do this....if you leave a comment, I'll do a drawing and pick 2 winners to send the e-book to next week! Past blog winners, you'll be getting the new copy as well (or hard copy if you'd prefer). So for now, Beautiful blessings to you all, Shari

Glad you're feeling better, Shari. Funny, today I picked up this cheap, colorful set of "wood: bead bracelets at Forever 21, for less than four bucks. FOUR BUCKS! It's a group of colors, and they go great with my general wardrobe AND orange leather spring/summer handbag. :-) I think you'd approve.

I never did get those John Hardy hoops. I haven't forgotten about them though. I miss having hoops in my jewelry box.

Great advice! Now I'm off to search for a fun, colorful watch...

Yea, you are back!

I have to tell you...my mom just gave me a demin jean vest from Chicos. I remembered what you said about everyone should have a demin jacket. I also remembered your rule of not wearing it with jeans. I wore it today with a soft cream color shirt and brown slacks. The mom's at my sons gym practice told me that I looked good today. :) So, I'll admit it. You were right I'm a soft even though I really didn't want to be a "soft". I'm making sure new pieces that go in my wardrobe are soft colors (like lavendars).

~Amy
P.S. now I need to get some accessories.

Hi Shari,
Came here from the daily " encouragement for today" i get in my mail.
And oh how i love the stuffs on your page. They are all so nice and stylish. You must be pretty stylish yourself to have such good taste.
I recently got a big bold black bracelet like one of those and my adopted US mum ( i am from Nigeria and live in Nigeria) sent me an earring very similar to the first one displayed on ur page. i am wearing it right now.
Looking forward to your book.

I got my swatches and am going to go through my closet soon to exchange winter for spring. So long winter clothes that don't fit. Thanks.

Hi Shari,
Thanks for the info. on spring wardrobe! Always looking for things to perk up a not so perky closet. = ) I also enjoyed your devotional today. It is something I remind my children each day before they go to school to build up their friends rather than tearing them down...but I wonder too, how many times I have not taken my own words to heart!
Your gentle reminder is timely!
Thank you,
Tricia

I just bought new sunglasses. Because they're in style I tried on all the big shades. My husband said NO and that I looked ridiculous. My long face is just not meant for the big glasses. They overwhelm my face. I did find a smaller, more flattering pair w/ cheetah print on the sides and a little bling. They are really chick. But I will look out for the rest. Thanks for the ideas.

I came from your P31 devotional this morning. Recently I've been examining my words to my kids. In my determination to teach and get results I've become frustrated and my words have become harsh. Your devo has been a follow up to what the Lord has already convicted me of. Thank you!

Shari,
Came here from Proverbs 31 today. How great of God to encourage us, when we are bound, no matter hard we would not want to, to have words come out of our mouths that tear and hurt. Your words today were an encouragement. And I needed to see some "spring" in your blog, as I woke up this morning to more snow on the ground and continuing to come down as well, here in our northern climate.
Thanks for allowing God to use you!

Hi Shari, I came over from the P31 Devotional today. Your devotional was powerful. Thanks for sharing so openly. You're not the only one who unintentially says things that hurt others. Just last week I had to apologize to my Bible study group for saying something that I later discovered had been misinterpreted and caused some hurt. Oh that the Lord would put a guard on my tongue and help my words to be encouraging to others.

This blog is great! Hoping to find some tips for packing my wardrobe for attending "She Speaks" in June.

Have a great day!
Blessings,
Joy

Hey Shari..
Love your ideas. I love accessorizing. I have tons of Premiere Designs Jewelry, so much so that I had to buy an armoir to hold it all. The first show I ever did I was able to receive about $900 in FREE jewelry. I need to get a new watch though.
Anyway... I would prefer the hard copy of the book, if that is OK.. let me know if I need to pay you for shipping.
Blessings~Alyce

Shari,

I'm so glad you're feeling better. I had to read some of this post to my 12yodd. She has some darling leopard print flats and hasn't worn them yet...had to read her what you said. She also has some colorful beads bracelets from Clair's that are too cute with her little colorful tops...Now, we must work on mom's accessories. Love my big tortoise sunglasses from Dollar General of all places.

Glad you're all better AND that the book is almost ready,
J

Glad to see you are feeling better. I love reading you blog.

You see,I'm not to good at putting things together. But since I've started visiting,my style has become more with it, at least that's what my 15 year old daughter says:)

I read your devotion today and it spoke right to me. My tongue from time to time seems to move before I think, thanks for the reminder.

Hi Shari,
It's your pal DANA from Lexington, NC. BTW having a "Bra Party" the first of May - Ha Ha - I absolutely LOVED your devotional today! It is something we all need to be reminded of frequently. I hate having to eat "crow" when I could have prevented it from the start. I wish to control my "two-edged" sword, AMEN! I love the idea of colorful bracelts, watches, and the like. Thanks for the advice. I can honestly say that fashion has never been my forte and I would love to stop looking like the "homey-mommy"! Thanks for all your suggestions! I'm so glad you are feeling better, and back to writing! Talk soon!

I'm inspired to go out and add some color! You can check out my "spiffiness" (spiffy is my mom's word)when you come to Apex. We can't wait! I'm bringing my mom and mom-in-law along for a fun, fun girl's day.

Hi Shari,

I came to your site after I recognized your name from the Proverbs 31 Devotional. I met you at the New Life 91.9 slumber party a few years ago. I love your ideas and I will continue to check out your blog.

Thanks for sharing your gift of style!

Thanks for the awesome devotional! I definitely needed this reminder today (and the past few weeks) since I work w/ mostly with a lot of people who don't know the Lord. I am a supervisor, and I forget sometimes that my words might mean more than I realize to my employees. I appreciate your willingness to share your mistake too. Don't forget Romans 8:28--"All things work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose." God bless you and love your blog!

Found your blog through the devotional site and have to admit that the fashion ideas stretch me out of my comfort zone but I may try something small and see how it goes :)

Your devotional was timely since I had just spoken harshly to my son this morning. It reminded me of the value of responding (thinking before I speak) instead of reacting. I'm grateful that God will not let me stay where I am and will continue to work in me and change me for the better! Thanks for sharing.

I just found your blog through the devotional and I am so thrilled to have stumbled upon it! My mother never taught me anything about fashion and I've been struggling with that for years. I'm 25, a wife and mother of two beautiful girls and I'm so tired of looking frumpy. Your site is so refreshing. Thank you for sharing your passion, this is truly blessing me.

Thanks for these tips! Is there a rule about how big is too big for the sunglasses? for instance, should you be able to see your eyebrows, or something like that?

Thank you for your P31 devotional. I enjoyed your entry today, and I intend to come back to read previous posts. I'm very interested in updating my look.

Shari,
Love all of your spring ideas. Went shopping over spring break and got some LONG trouser jeans to wear with high heels to make my legs look longer - remembering your great advice. Thanks!

My wedding rings are gold. What are the rules in wearing silver with wedding rings???

This is my first time here. I am just catching up with my mail. I loved your devotion. I am taking the class Cleansing Streams and we are learning about our words. I had heard some of it before, but it is an "aha moment" now and I am really trying to be more conscious of what I am saying and receiving(word wise).I am sorry you have been sick and pray healing days ahead for you.
Blessings,

Hi Shari,
I am so glad you're feeling better. Sorry for doing this so late, but here's my comment regarding the new Bali Concealer bra! For all of your readers, I was struggling with how to handle the headlights always being on. No matter what I tried, or if I was hot or cold, the girls just needed to shine! Recently I saw an ad for this new bra, the Bali Concealer. I purchased one at either Kohl's or Belk for a very reasonable amount. The bra boasts of the "petal concealers" and I was concerned that now I'd have flowers instead of headlights! But ladies, it really works. I've worn it now with almost every kind of shirt, blouse or top I own and the headlights are out!
Can't wait to see the book Shari. Take care,
Bridget

I'm really enjoying your series on building a spring wardrobe. I hope you'll do this for each season. I need all the fashion help I can get. I just told my husband I wish I could have a personal shopper. I'm looking forward to getting your new book when it is published.
