Beauty Is...

It's good to be back!
*
I pray you had a beautiful Christmas season and I'm blessed to have had a wonderful break.
*
I've been to Michigan and Virginia to kick off this new year of speaking engagements and this week I've just got to share some things from these two events. I'm calling this post
"Beauty Is" so here we go.
*
Beauty Is:
A 15 year old girl who breaks up with her boyfriend because she learned that SHE is beautiful in God's eyes and she's gonna stop having sex. Beauty Is.
*
Two sisters who came to the teen event in wheelchairs. Yes, in wheelchairs from a horrific car accident caused by a drunk driver. 5 years ago. Both paralyzed from the waist down, both strikingly beautiful on the outside, both seeking God and trying to find Him. Wondering WHY this happened to them. Wondering WHY He would leave them in these rolling chairs. Wondering WHY neither of their parents want them. Wondering WHY their Aunt would adopt them. Wondering WHY God even loves them. Wondering HOW He can forgive them for the thoughts they think. Wondering HOW they can live in these chairs for the rest of their lives. And mostly, wondering HOW anyone could ever love them and IF they'll ever find a man to want to marry them. And now, believing, just maybe, they can make a difference. Beauty Is.
*
A young mom who had to have her foot amputated from a car accident and walked in the fashion show with her new prosthetic foot. Beauty Is.
*
A 40-something woman who has decided to forgive her husband for his affair. Beauty Is.
*
A 50 year old woman who is going to end HER affair. Beauty Is.
*
2 thirteen year old girls, cute as can be, best friends, who made a pact to not do the things they used to do. Beauty Is.
*
A teen addicted to porn and wants to stop. Beauty Is.
*
An eight year old commits to purity till marriage. Beauty Is.
*
A sixteen year old who wonders why she doesn't have a boyfriend, and then decides to trust God with that. Beauty Is.
*
A girl and mom who fight about clothes all the time and learn the guidelines of modesty, and make a pact to shop together in harmony. Beauty Is.
*
A woman who decides to spend more time at home with her kids. Beauty Is.
*
Less cleaveage, fewer bra straps showing, less bellies showing, not so-tight jeans and not so short skirts. Beauty Is.
*
Acceptance of WHO they are in Christ, Bodies in all shapes and sizes, Women and girls seeing themselves in a whole new way. Beauty Is.
*
48 women and girls accepting Christ for the first time knowing it's not about me, but about the GOD of the universe, speaking thru me, challenging women and girls about the way they've been living, dressing and acting. Beauty Is.
*
So now I ask, what is Beauty for you?
*
Has God been asking you to move in a new direction? AWAY from something that is endangering YOUR beauty? TOWARD something that He's got for you?
*
What is your passion that is hiding inside you, that talent that God has given you that He wants you to share with someone else?
*
Beauty Is...YOU.
*
Believe it.

Beauty is sharing the love of God, sharing where you've been, but mostly sharing where you are now. Beauty is acceptance of all that God created and seeing it with His eyes and not your own.

Thank you, Shari for sharing your special beauty.

Shari,
What a wonderful post. I've missed you in the blogosphere. Don't be a stranger.

My "Beauty Is" list could go on for miles but this weekend Beauty Is seeing my baby boy ride his bike, with no training wheels, and having the courage to get right back up everytime he falls.
